When buying name tags you will be given the opportunity to make a donation to this very worthwhile charity. Please donate if you can - even the smallest of donations help - they all add up. This summer, just in July, August and September customers raised £1243 just by donating small amounts. In previous years they have done even better - and there are all the other months too! Please see below the charity's latest Thank You to our customers and find out some of the things that can be achieved thanks to these donations.
THANK YOU TO THE CUSTOMERS AND STAFF OF NAMETAGS4U
Your donations help us provide all kinds of opportunities, resources and activities for the children and young people who so desperately need our help. To give you a glimpse of how your generous gifts help us, here are some of the things our local projects have been able to do this summer.
North Somerset Short Breaks, who provide residential short breaks for children and young people with complex physical disabilities, have been busy organising outings, trips and holidays. These not only help to develop independence skills but also give the children a great opportunity to relax and just have fun with their friends!
This summer 15 disabled children and young people, who don’t currently benefit from any other residential support, were able to enjoy an action filled holiday at Goblin Combe set in 130 acres of stunning Somerset countryside. Later on 7 children went to Action for Children’s Art workshop weekend in Cheshire where they were able to take part in Visual Arts, Dance, Drumming, Lyric & Rap, Drama and Singing workshops. Travelling there by train was a great adventure; a first for all 7 children and more adventure holidays are planned for the autumn and spring 2015.
They were also able to hire the Odeon cinema at Weston Super Mare for special film showings for those whose disabilities make it otherwise impossible for them to access and enjoy the fun of going to the cinema. The venue was great, had wheelchair accessibility and was especially brilliant for our autistic young people, because they were able to control the sound. Best of all these were ‘whole family’ outings where families could relax together and have fun knowing they were in a safe environment with people who understood their children.
Action for Children Bristol held a Celebration Day to mark ten years of providing life changing support for struggling families in central Bristol who daily have to face extreme challenges and difficulties. The day was a wonderful mixture of hearing what had been achieved alongside lots of fun filled family activities which included an afternoon in the zoo. Our families were central to this special day and in the afternoon I joined some of them walking around the zoo. It was very humbling to hear the delight and amazement of the children. Many had never previously had the opportunity to experience the joy of a trip to the zoo and being close to so many extraordinary creatures caused great excitement!
Your wonderful donations help to make these, and the other 650 services we provide, possible. Thank you all, for your kindness and thoughtfulness, which inspires hope in the vulnerable children and young people we help. We couldn’t do that without you. Thank you.

from Action for Children
Firstly, Thank you all so much for the wonderfully generous gifts which the customers and staff at Nametags4U have donated over the past few years. As an example, in just the three summer months of July, August and September 2012 they raised £1525.65 and in the same three months of 2013 they raised £1095.87. This was was truly magnificent and will help Action for Children to ensure it can be there to support the 50,000 children and young people who so desperately need our help across the UK, through our network of over 480 projects and services.
One of our stories:
Joe is just eight years old but he already knows not to take anything for granted. He won’t get a hot meal tomorrow unless his Mum takes an extra cleaning shift after he and his brother have gone to bed. Also, shockingly, he won’t be warm in bed unless he wears his winter coat because he doesn’t have a duvet or a pillow.
Thousands of children like Joe are growing up without the basic essentials that most of us take for granted but with your support we can make a difference.
These donations can help children like Joe break out of the cycle of poverty and deprivation and enjoy the chance of a brighter future filled with hope and potential.
Today Action for Children, just like any other family or organisation is having to face the challenges and difficulties of the tightening economic climate. Sadly this is compounded by the urgent need to support many more children and their families as difficult times bite into every community and region. So we are especially grateful to our friends supporters and partners who despite all the difficulties they face, still extend their support, generosity and kindness to thousands of children and their families who rely on many different aspects of Action for Children’s vital services.
Our vision is of a world where all children and young people have a sense of belonging, are loved and valued; a world where they can fulfil their potential, shape their destiny and experience the joy of life.
